Howard Wall joined Capella in 2005 as General Counsel. In that position, Howard brings a vast knowledge of healthcare law, including extensive experience with state and federal regulatory matters, financial relationships among healthcare providers, corporate governance, joint ventures and hospital transactions. Because of his direct and relevant experience, Howard is instrumental in supporting an effective Ethics & Compliance program, establishing a well-rounded corporate governance function and negotiating legal agreements to partner with local communities.Prior to joining Capella, Howard was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Corporate Governance officer for Province Healthcare. During his eight-year tenure at Province, Howard oversaw all aspects of corporate governance. He also served as the lead attorney on the closing of all agreements to partner with local communities by leasing or acquiring the local hospital and committing to making major investments after the closing. These commitments often included major capital expenditures to improve the local facility, recruiting more physicians to the community and providing additional tax dollars to the local government.Howard began his career upon graduating from law school in 1983 with the Nashville law firm of Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, PLLC. At Waller Lansden, Howard represented numerous large healthcare chains on matters of healthcare transactions, physician/provider relationships, corporate governance and state and federal regulatory matters. In 1989, he was appointed chairman of the firm�s Healthcare Working Group, a position he held until he left Waller Lansden for Province in 1997.Howard is currently a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates and serves on the Governing Council of the American Bar Association Health Law Section. He was chairman of the ABA Health Law Section in 1999 and 2000. He is also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and serves on the editorial board for the BNA Health Law Reporter.Howard holds an undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and a law degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He is married to Kim Wall. They have two children. |
