Howard graduated the United States Naval Academy in 1959. In 1963, following his active duty in the U.S. Navy, he joined his father-in-law (Irving Resnick) to become the second generation in this family owned furniture and stationery business. Together they formed Arbee Associates in 1973 to concentrate their efforts on the furniture portion of the business. That year, Arbee employed seven people and achieved sales revenue of $750,000. Arbee has since grown into a company with over 250 valued employees, locations in multiple markets, and annual sales in excess of $120 million. Howard is proud that his daughters (the third generation) have joined him in running the business. Nancy Berkowitz began her career at Arbee in 1986 and is currently the Chief Executive Officer for both the New Jersey and Maryland divisions. Ellen Berkowitz Klein joined the company in 1989, and she is currently Vice President of Corporate Development. |
