Mr. Brown has been Chief Executive Officer of Brown & Brown, Inc. since 1993 and the Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1994. Mr. Brown was President of Brown & Brown, Inc. from 1993 to December 2002, and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Brown & Brown�s predecessor corporation from 1961 to 1993. He was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1972 to 1980, and Speaker of the House from 1978 to 1980. Mr. Brown serves on the Board of Directors of SunTrust Banks, Inc., International Speedway Corporation, FPL Group, Inc., BellSouth Corporation, and Rock-Tenn Company, each a publicly-held company. He also serves as Chairman of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers and a member of the Board of Insurance Services Office, as well as on the Board of Trustees of Stetson University, of which he is a past Chairman, and the Florida Council of 100. Mr. Brown is a past Vice Chairman of the Florida Residential Property and Casualty Joint Underwriting Association and a past Trustee of the Florida Chamber Foundation. |
