Despite the remarkable economic development worldwide in the past few decades, more than 1.2 billion people earn less than $1 per day in many developing countries. In these countries, poverty keeps people unemployed, children out of school, women dying during childbirth, and communities short of water, electricity, and infrastructure. I always wanted to be a part of an organization that strives to improve the lives of people and reduce poverty.
IFC allowed me to realize my desire through sustainable private sector development.
As an investment officer, I directly work with clients to create, promote, and develop sustainable and profitable private sector projects. Since joining IFC, I have worked on a number of complex projects in China, Thailand, Venezuela, Pakistan, India, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. Every project is unique, which means that we must work creatively to deliver new solutions to issues in a challenging environment. I am now based in Beijing, China, helping to promote new business and managing several IFC portfolio projects in the region.
I feel rewarded when I witness progress in project implementation and see projects transformed into sustainable ones. Another joy at IFC is that we are surrounded by highly talented and dedicated professionals. You will work on a project as a team member together with many different professionals like lawyers and engineers and environmental, social, and SME specialists.
If you share my desire to promote sustainable private sector development together with other committed professionals as a team, I strongly encourage you to consider a career opportunity at IFC. |
