Dr. Mackenzie has been involved in the financial services industry for almost 20 years. Since the start of 2004, he has worked as an independent consultant his work during this period has included:
Assessing the impact of Basel II on investment banks with particular reference to operational risk;
Directing and teaching on ICMA's Operations Certificate Programme
Consulting to clients in the wealth management sector
Working with Cass Business School to define and seek support for a new research centre geared to addressing issues arising from the regulation of the financial services sector.
Working with the Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London to set up a new spin-out company to conduct consulting in the field of innovation processes.
Dr. Mackenzie worked initially as a consultant and Manager with the Boston Consulting Group, then spent eight years as Managing Director (Europe) of Thomson Financial Services during which time he was involved with introducing a number of initiatives including the electronic distribution of research and electronic trade confirmation.
He returned to strategy consulting in 1995 with the Mitchell Madison Group where he was a Partner and Head of the European Securities Industry Practice. At MMG, Dr Mackenzie work included strategy and operational improvement work across front and back offices. In 2001 he became a Director and head of Financial Services with OC&C Strategy Consultants. In 2003, while at OC&C, he conducted a major study of the impacts of ISD2 (now MiFID) for a consortium of trade associations led by LIBA.
Dr. Mackenzie holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering from Imperial College, London University and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. |
