Ishwar Lal joined AvalonBay Communities, Inc. in 2007 to head Strategic Sourcing/Procurement, Design and Estimating functions for the enterprise. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and plans for supporting all business units and functions of the organization.
Prior to joining AvalonBay Mr. Lal has led strategic sourcing/procurement, corporate real estate, property development, design, construction, program management, property/asset management, travel and other corporate functions in diverse industries, including retail, financial services, healthcare, high technology and consulting, with both domestic and international operations. He previously held leadership roles at Sears Holdings Corp., Liberty Financial Cos., Inc., Optima Healthcare Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp.
Mr. Lal holds an MBA in International Management from Boston University and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a registered Professional Engineer and maintains professional affiliations with Corporate Real Estate Network (CoreNet Global), Institute of Supply Management (ISM) and Procurement Strategy Council of the Executive Board. |
