Ivan Montoya Lara, became General Treasurer of the Central Bank of Chile in July 2004.
He graduated in business studies from the Catholic University of Chile and has also studied international finance and financial risk management.
Before his appointment as Treasurer, he had been head of the Department of Management and Risk Assessment at the Bank since August 1999, where he was in charge of financial risks in the management of the Bank�s foreign reserves.
Mr. Montoya joined the Central Bank in 1986 and worked in several departments of the International Division: International Organizations (November 1986-January 1989), Foreign Debt Conversion (February 1989-December 1991), Investment Policy (January 1992-February 1993) and Investment Control (March 1993-July 1999).
He has published several papers such as Regulations governing foreign debt conversion in Chile, the main characteristics and results. published by the Central Bank and Access to the preferential dollar, a study of Chilean capital market efficiency. published by the Catholic University.
Mr. Montoya has attended numerous courses and seminars in Chile and abroad in such institutions as the Catholic University, the World Bank, the Bank for International Settlements and Cambridge University.
He has also spoken at international meetings such as the Meeting of Central Bank Experts, in Washington, and the International Monetary Fund. |
