Having played or coached at every level of hockey, Jack Davison is one of the most respected judges of talent among NHL executives. Entering his 46th year as a member of the Chicago Blackhawk organization, Davison's knowledge of hockey has been invaluable in bringing excellent young talent to the club.
One of the reasons Davison has had such an eye for good talent is his own athleticism. As a young man, Jack had a baseball tryout as a first baseman in the Braves' organization, but he chose hockey instead.
Davison's prime responsibility has been in the area of player personnel where he helped coordinate scouting efforts and made sure that every league had been seen, every "potential" explored. He also directed the Blackhawks participation in the NHL Entry Draft up until 1992.
Through all his work and preparation over the years the Blackhawks have reaped the benefit of players such as Denis Savard, Steve Larmer, Jeremy Roenick and Doug Wilson. Jack maintains his headquarters in Toronto where he continues to monitor junior players who are headed to the draft. He continues to provide valuable insight to the Blackhawks scouting staff as they prepare for the annual draft.
Jack and his wife Isobel reside in Toronto. An avid golfer, he is able to spend more time fine tuning his game now that his responsibilities have lessened. The Davisons have three children: Kathy, Susan and Kerry. |
