James A. Ratner is an executive vice president and director of Forest City Enterprises, Inc. In addition, Ratner is chairman and CEO of Forest City Commercial Group, Forest City's largest business unit.
Forest City Commercial Group is responsible for identifying, analyzing, leasing and development all new commercial real estate projects, including retail, offices, hotels and mixed-use properties. As president of the group, Ratner has been responsible for the development of more than 20 million square feet of retail centers and office buildings. He joined the company in 1976.
Before joining Forest City, Ratner spent five years at the Nasher Company, a privately owned real estate development firm in Dallas, Texas, where he was responsible for supervising new development projects. He also had experience at a financial consulting firm and as a loan officer for Citicorp.
Ratner holds a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University and a master of business administration degree from Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration. |
