James A. Riedy is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington D.C. office. As a member of the Tax Department, James concentrates his practice on international tax matters, which includes a broad range of U.S. tax issues for U.S. multinational corporations, including:
Consulting: day-to-day advice on technical international tax matters, such as foreign tax credits, subpart F, PFIC, sourcing, foreign currency and section 367
Transactional: advice on the tax aspects of structuring and financing acquisitions or the tax restructuring of existing businesses
Transfer pricing: advice on tax transfer price matters, including transfer pricing for tangible and intangible property, cost sharing agreements and documentary compliance requirements
James is a frequent commentator and lecturer on international tax issues. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association and the American Bar Association Tax Section. He is also past co-chair of the International Tax Committee of the District of Columbia Bar. Jim was ranked as a leading tax lawyer in the 2007 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Prior to entering private practice, James was a lawyer with the Tax Division, Appellate Section, of the U.S. Department of Justice.
