Mr. Murphy was appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in February 2004. He has 26 years of experience in senior financial management positions including 14 years at publicly-held companies in the healthcare medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining OXiGENE Mr. Murphy was Vice President of Finance for Whatman Inc. of Marlborough MA a subsidiary of UK-based Whatman plc (LSE: WHM) a manufacturer of filtration and separation products for the pharmaceutical industry. During his tenure he supervised the successful integration of then-publicly-traded HemaSure Inc. a blood filtration products company acquired by Whatman in 2001. From 1994 through 2001 Mr. Murphy was Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and later Chief Financial Officer at HemaSure. HemaSure was a spin-off of Sepracor (NASDAQ: SEPR) a diversified pharmaceutical medical device and biotechnology products company where Mr. Murphy served as Corporate Controller from 1990 to 1994. He played a pivotal role in working with international investment banks to raise approximate $170 million in public and private equity capital for the companies. Mr. Murphy holds a BA in economics and accounting from the College of the Holy Cross and is a Certified Public Accountant. |
