Jim Camp is a shareholder of the firm, practicing in the areas of corporate, finance, commercial and real estate transactions. Mr. Camp brings over 25 years of experience to his practice, including extensive work in structuring complex real estate financings and equity investments, public/private partnerships and environmental risk management arrangements. Mr. Camp has represented developers, lenders, redevelopment agencies and general corporate clients on a wide range of matters, from purchase and sale, leasing, construction, financing and environmental remediation of real property, to entity formation, reorganization and sale. Representative transactions include the acquisition on behalf of a university of a major historical landmark property from a department store out of a bankruptcy case and the subsequent historic rehabilitation of the structure; the structuring of the equity arrangements for major office and retail developments on behalf of a major Los Angeles developer; the workout of a large acquisition and development loan for a large-scale residential project; and the acquisition of a portfolio of properties throughout the state on behalf of a real estate investment joint venture. SEMINARS AND PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS Mr. Camp has lectured in the areas of environmental insurance and Brownfields development. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law in Real Estate Sales Transactions at Southwestern University School of Law. Mr. Camp is actively involved with committees for his alma maters, Duke University and Emory University. He served on the Advisory Board of Emory University from 1999 to 2001. For Duke University, Mr. Camp has served on the Regional Campaign Committee, Leadership Gift Committee and Alumni Advisory Admissions Committee. Other leadership positions include serving as Chairman of the Editorial Board of Los Angeles Lawyer, the Magazine of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and Chairman of the Real Property Section of the Century City Bar Association. He has also served on private company boards of directors. Mr. Camp is an active member of the American Bar Association (including involvement in the Real Estate Finance Subcommittee, Public/Private Cooperation in Development of Real Estate Subcommittee, and Business Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections), Los Angeles County Bar Association (Environmental Law, Real Property and Business and Corporations Law Sections), Urban Land Institute and Los Angeles Conservancy. |
