As vice president of research and application development, Jim oversees the development and refinement of the ways Kepner-Tregoe (KT) processes are used and applied. He has particular expertise designing and developing customized KT process-based solutions that help clients reduce the complexity of their operations and manage costs. He was the principal designer of the KT Project Management process and client workshop, KT's eThink? application software, and Engineering the Performance System workshop.
Jim's ability to develop and implement solutions with KT clients stems from 25 years at KT and five years as a KT client. He has helped Harley Davidson define, schedule, and manage projects to increase manufacturing capacity and has guided Verizon through a multi-function tax accounting software project. He worked with Baxter Healthcare to use KT processes to integrate statistical tools that improved manufacturing efficiency, and worked with Cinergy (now Duke Energy) to use critical thinking skills to improve engineering and consulting effectiveness. Jim has worked in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific with a range of clients including major airlines, steel companies, computer component makers, and automotive OEMs.
Many KT partners have had their lives influenced by clients, including Jim Schlick. More than ten years ago, Jim worked with Harley-Davidson, Inc. to help them define, schedule, and implement a project to meet noise regulations in Europe. While the project was successfully meeting its goals, Jim was developing a new one-to own and ride his own Harley. Today when Jim is not riding his Harley, he is following his other passion in life-applying KT rational thinking processes to resolve business challenges with clients.
Prior to joining KT, Jim was an industrial engineer at the Naval Weapons Support Center. He holds a bachelor of science in engineering operations from Iowa State University and a master's degree in industrial operations from Purdue University. His articles and research have been published in technical and management journals. |
