Ed Mahoney was appointed Micron�s Vice President of Information Systems on July 1, 1997. He joined the company in October 1981 and for the next 15 years developed his technical perspective by working in a variety of areas in information technology. This included creating software applications in multiple programming languages for all of Micron's major functional areas, ranging from manufacturing to engineering, to administration. Ed also acquired valuable IT infrastructure experience working in systems programming, systems management, and creating software development tools. For the following 10 years, with Micron's transition from a small memory chip company in Boise to an international semiconductor provider with global reach and new manufacturing operations in Utah, Virginia, Europe and Asia, Ed oversaw the overhaul of Micron's IT infrastructure and IT business processes. More recently, Ed's efforts have been focused on sponsoring an enterprise architecture approach to align information technology capabilities with Micron strategic objectives. This focus on Micron's future includes the implementation of formal and disciplined project management to ensure on-time delivery of high-value initiatives, and the transformation from being a technology provider to being an IT service provider, using an industry standard, continuous service improvement program.
Mr. Mahoney graduated from Boise State University in 1981, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems. He has been a member of the Boise State University School of Business and is currently on the Advisory Board of Highway 12, a high tech venture capital group. Ed is also an active member in the Boise Area CIO Forum sponsored by Boise State University. |
