James Porter concentrates his practice on general corporate law, business transactions and health care. He regularly advises clients in connection with general corporate and contractual matters, business start-ups, sales of businesses, asset sales, mergers and acquisitions, and financing transactions. He advises a large trucking corporation on general corporate, transactional and contractual matters. He also advises hospital clients on contract and related matters. He advises one of the nations largest buying cooperatives of medical and surgical supplies on general corporate matters and has represented that client with respect to various acquisition transactions. He has also represented various sellers in multi-million dollar sales of privately owned companies, has represented banks in connection with sales of merchant credit card processing portfolios, has assisted in the implementation of the affiliation of several nonprofit community mental health centers which created the largest mental health provider in Middle Tennessee, and has represented the organizers in connection with the start up and initial stock offerings of a rural bank and of a suburban trust company.
