Jim Salzman has represented a variety of corporations, universities, and municipalities throughout the United States in various law matters for over 30 years, with a particular focus on contract negotiations, labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice advice and representation, and advising employers involved in union organizing campaigns. He has extensive experience in diverse areas including employment discrimination, plant closing laws (including the WARN/plant closing mass layoff statute and its state law counterparts), employee handbook matters, employment-at-will and privacy rights litigation, disability discrimination, OSHA matters, the design and implementation of absenteeism control programs (including "no fault") in both the union and non-union environment, affirmative action program drafting, administration and compliance reviews under E.O. 11246, USERRA, and the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1974.
He conducts numerous seminars and workshops for personnel, human resource and employment specialists in maintaining union-free status, grievance and arbitration procedures, collective bargaining negotiations, occupational safety and health, wage and hour regulations, employment discrimination and related areas of labor law. Jim has also served as the director of several corporations.
Jim is the managing partner of Ford & Harrison's Chicago office. Prior to its merger with Ford & Harrison, he was a founding member of Matkov Salzman. Earlier in his career he worked at Inland Steel Company.
He is admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (including the Trial Bar) and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He is also a member of the Illinois Sate Bar Association. Jim is also AV� Peer-Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
