Mr. Goyer is a member of the commercial litigation and bankruptcy/workouts practice groups, generally representing commercial lenders, insurance companies, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, manufacturing and industrial companies, and corporate defendants. In the corporate litigation area, Mr. Goyer has handled litigation and tried cases concerning lender liability, products liability, securities, antitrust, computer software and hardware, insurance fraud, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, trademarks, environmental claims and general personal injury claims. Recently he has defended multiple insurance sales practice cases in Mississippi. His bankruptcy workouts include a failed LBO, a horse racing facility, an apartment complex, a hotel, downtown office development projects and an asbestosis-related Chapter 11.Representative Cases:Mr. Goyer currently serves as primary counsel in substantial insurance-related litigation arising out of alleged accounting fraud in the healthcare industry. In addition, he has defended a national company in toxic tort litigation in state court in Alabama. He is primary counsel for an Alabama public corporation defending a class action arising out of property acquisitions.Representative clients include: Healthcare Realty Trust, First American Bank, Colonial Pipeline Company, Vesta Insurance Company, U. S. Fertilizer Company, Washington Mutual Insurance Co., and the Birmingham Airport Authority.
