James M. Sullivan is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's New York office. He concentrates his practice in corporate restructuring and bankruptcy. He has extensive experience representing corporate debtors, banks, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, and distressed investors in large chapter 11 cases, as well as in connection with a variety of complex commercial disputes. He has also represented numerous buyers of assets in distressed and bankruptcy M&A transactions. Mr. Sullivan also has extensive litigation, trial, and mediation experience.
In recent matters, he represented Parmalat USA Corp. in its successful Chapter 11 reorganization (S.D.N.Y.); Motels of America LLC in its chapter 11 case and subsequent out of court restructuring (N.D. Ill.), the winning bidder in the contested auction for Integrated Fuel Cell Technologies Inc. (D. Del.), and Advanced Beauty Solutions LLC (C.D. Cal.); the creditor trust established in connection with the chapter 11 proceedings of Daewoo International (America), Inc. (S.D.N.Y.); a member of an unofficial committee of oil companies in the Fleming Company Chapter 11 cases (D. Del.); the largest secured creditor and eventual owner of the reorganized business of Med Diversified, Inc. in its chapter 11 proceedings (E.D.N.Y.).
Mr. Sullivan is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, the United States Supreme Court, and numerous federal circuit courts and district courts throughout the country. Mr. Sullivan is a registered mediator with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
