James M. Sullivan is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Solutia Inc.
Mr. Sullivan joined Monsanto in 1983 in a Controllership training program in the Engineered Products Division. In this two year assignment, Jim was a credit Analyst, Customer Sales & Service Representative and General Accountant. In 1985, Jim transferred to Permea Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Monsanto, where he held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in Project Accounting, Cost Accounting and Planning and Business Analysis. In 1989, Jim relocated to Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, Iowa as Manager, Cost Accounting. In 1991, Jim returned to St. Louis as Superintendent of Accounting & Control at the Carondelet Plant. Jim's role at the Carondelet Plant was expanded in 1993 to include site leadership for business redesign implementation at the site. Mr. Sullivan was promoted to Manager, Monsanto Internal Audit in 1994. In October 1996, Jim was appointed Finance Director for Specialty Products.
In September 1997 Jim became General Auditor for Solutia Inc. progressing to Director, Financial Reporting & Analysis, and in 1999 was appointed Controller for Solutia Inc. Jim assumed his current position effective May 5, 2004.
Mr. Sullivan holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from St. Louis University and an MBA from Washington University.
