Mr. Kiefer has extensive experience in public finance, corporate finance and banking matters. His public finance work has included serving as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, issuer's counsel and trustee's counsel on a wide variety of public finance transactions. His corporate experience includes numerous private equity transactions, along with mergers and acquisitions and many other corporate finance transactions. His banking experience includes commercial loan work, financial institution regulatory work, and electronic banking issues.
He has also served as speaker and panelist at numerous banking and public finance conferences, including the Bond Attorney's Workshop.
Mr. Kiefer serves on the Firm's Executive Board.
While in law school, Mr. Kiefer was Executive Editor of the Indiana Law Review.

Counsel to the Michigan Public Service Commission in connection with the approval of the issuance by the Detroit Edison Company of $1.75 billion of securitization bonds to recover certain costs in connection with the State's utility deregulation legislation
Bond Counsel to the State of Michigan on two separate $900 million cash flow borrowing
Bond Counsel to the State of Michigan on the first bond issue under the Clean Michigan Initiative approved by the Michigan electorate
Bond Counsel on a $518 million Michigan Department of Transportation bond issue
Bond Counsel to the Michigan Tobacco Securitization Finance Authority on a $587 million bond issue.
Underwriter's Counsel in connection with a $493 million advance refunding bond issue for the State of Michigan Building Authority
Underwriter's Counsel in connection with a $330 million State of Michigan Building Authority bond issue

Mr. Kiefer has also served as Special Assistant Attorney General by appointment of the Michigan Attorney General.
