James P. Whitson, 61, is the Chief Tax Officer for Delphi Corporation. He is responsible for directing Delphi's global tax and customs planning and reporting.
Prior to joining Delphi in August 1998, Whitson was the Vice President, Assistant Treasurer and Director of Taxes at ITT. During his 18 years at ITT he was responsible for a broad range of tax matters and directed activities of outside tax counsel. He has extensive involvement in acquisition and divestiture activities as well as tax policy and lobbying decisions.
Whitson earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1971, and a Bachelor in Economics from Davidson College in 1966. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), the Financial Executives Institute (FEI) and the International Fiscal Association. He serves on the FEI's Committee on Taxation and the Business Roundtable's Fiscal Policy Coordinating Committee.
