James R. Cambridge is a Member of Kerr, Russell and Weber, PLC. Mr. Cambridge specializes in the areas of business law, finance and real estate and lectures and publishes regularly on business law and planning. His clients have included private and public companies in the technology, manufacturing, finance, service, retail and real estate industries. Mr. Cambridge serves as counsel for a number of businesses and handles a variety of matters such as business formations, contracts, employment, lending relationships, real estate and buying and selling businesses. Mr. Cambridge's clients include professional athletes. He also serves as a private arbitrator and mediator of business and commercial disputes. Mr. Cambridge is co-chairperson of the firm's Corporate Practice Group.
Mr. Cambridge is a past Chairperson of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and a member of its Business Law and Real Property Law Sections, a member of the American Bar Association and its Business Law Section, and a member of the Detroit Bar Association. His many bar activities include being a member of the Council of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and Chairman of its Legislative Committee. Mr. Cambridge also served as the Chairman of the Legislative Drafting Committee of business and tax lawyers that wrote the Michigan Limited Liability Company Act.
Mr. Cambridge is the author of many journals, articles and publications including the book "Michigan Limited Liability Companies," which is published by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education at the University of Michigan. He is also a contributor to "Advising Closely Held Businesses in Michigan", published by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Cambridge's many community service activities include being a member of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, Detroit Area Council, and also serving as legal counsel to the Boy Scouts. Mr. Cambridge is listed in both "Who's Who in American Law" and "The Best Lawyers in America".
A 1982 graduate of The Cooley Law School, Mr. Cambridge received his undergraduate degree in Business from Central Michigan University in 1977.
