James R. Mall has been a practicing lawyer at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP in Pittsburgh for the past twenty-three years. He is a member of the Business and Tort Litigation Groups and serves as co-chair of the firm's Construction Law Group. He concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, construction, land use and zoning. He has a broad range of experience in prosecuting and defending construction-related disputes and has represented contractors and sub-contractors in bid disputes, delay and acceleration claims, issues related to the scope and design of work, payment bonds, mechanic's liens, lost profits and property damage claims. He has handled numerous construction cases involving power plants, ball parks, hospitals, airports, schools and commercial buildings.In addition to construction-related work, Mr. Mall serves as counsel for the Hampton Township Zoning Hearing Board and has represented property owners with land use and zoning matters. Mr. Mall also represents several national and local nursing homes and assisted living facilities in various litigation matters.Mr. Mall is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. He formerly chaired the Public Relations Committee and the Construction Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association and currently serves on its Professional Ehtics Committee. Mr. Mall is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and serves on its Board of Governors. He is on the executive committee of the Notre Dame Alumni Association of Pittsburgh and is past President of the Sewickley Heights Golf Club.Mr. Mall earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1974 and went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Notre Dame's Graduate School of Business in 1978. Mr. Mall also earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Notre Dame Law School in 1978.Mr. Mall is admitted to practice before the United States and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts. He has lectured for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on construction litigation, professional ethics and municipal law. |
