As executive director for Dow Cornings global supply chains, Whitock will lead innovation and functional excellence activities focused on ensuring fast, reliable and flexible delivery of silicone materials. He brings to this role a career background in engineering combined with senior level experience in facilities and business unit management.
Whitlock joined Dow Corning in 1987 as a design engineer. He spent several years managing Dow Corning sites in Kentucky, North Carolina and Midland. In those positions he introduced customer-oriented models that resulted in significantly increased revenue contributions while improving manufacturing efficiency.
In 2002 Whitlock moved into a commercial role, when he was appointed as director for the paper and process industry. He developed and implemented a strategy of moving beyond offering materials and products to customers, to give customers an additional choice of services and full solutions. This approach supported customers looking for expertise on safe management of chemicals; process optimization as well as expansion into new geographical markets.
Whitlock was appointed as business director for the specialty chemicals business in Asia in 2006 and relocated to Shanghai. In this role he led his team to achieve double digit growth and created a business opportunity portfolio that will support the rapid growth of local and multinational companies in this key economy. A critical element of his role was also to encourage and support the career development of locally-based leaders.
Whitlock received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University in 1986. He has been involved in a variety of community activities including membership of chambers of commerce and a school math and science advisory board within the United States. |
