James Cassity is a lead consultant for Suss Consulting, Inc. He has more than 35 years experience as a senior military leader and corporate executive in military communications systems and computers.
Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Mr. Cassity served as Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the C4 and Information Management Systems Business Unit at BDM, Inc., a $1 billion information technology company. During his tenure at BDM, the company grew from $350 million in 1991 to $1 billion in 1996. After TRW's acquisition of BDM in 1997, Mr. Cassity remained to assist with the transition, retiring in 1999.
Before joining BDM, Inc., Mr. Cassity served as Joint Staff/J-6, the senior military communications and computer leader in the military services. As J-6, Mr. Cassity was responsible for the successful installation, operation and maintenance of DoD's worldwide command, control and communications systems.
Mr. Cassity also led the U.S. Air Force Communications Command, where he directed all acquisition efforts for the Air Force and selected Government agencies' common user computer systems. He also directed the acquisition, engineering, and installation of Air Force communications and electronics equipment worldwide.
Prior to his tenure at the U.S. Air Force Communications Command, Mr. Cassity served as the Director, Logistics and C4 Systems, for the U.S. Space Command. He directed communications and computer operations, including maintenance and logistics support at Cheyenne Mountain and 20 sites worldwide. Additionally, he managed the Air Force Space Command's multi-task acquisition contracts including upgrades to Cheyenne Mountain computer systems, and Operations and Maintenance contracts for sensor sites worldwide.
