James W. Shaver of Landis, N.C., was elected to the Board of Directors effective April 1, 2006. An optometrist in private practice, Shaver is a past president and chairman of trustees of the Woodmen of the WorldWoodmen of the World North Carolina Jurisdiction, and has served on several jurisdictional committees. Shaver is currently president of Woodmen of the World Lodge 111 in Landis and was a Woodmen of the World youth lodge leader in Mt. Olive and Salisbury, N.C. He has served on the boards of the North Carolina Fraternal Congress and the R. C. "Cliff" Payne Woodmen of the World Camp. He is a past recipient of the Mr. Woodman Award, the Fraternal Spirit Award and Woodmen of the World s Meritorious Service Award. Shaver has served on numerous Woodmen of the World national committees, including the National Judiciary Committee (2005-2006), National Legislative Committee (2001-2005), Resolutions Committee (2001) and Executive Officers Reports Committee (1993). Shaver is a graduate of Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., and received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston, Texas. A life-long Woodmen of the World member, Shaver is the son of retired Woodmen of the World Director Dr. Thomas Shaver. |
