James Jay Burtis III, P.E. is the project manager for geotechnical and coastal engineering projects, and has overall responsibility for the technical performance of these disciplines as part of larger multi-discipline projects. Jay is responsible for the execution of subsurface exploration programs including soil borings and rock coring, test pits, in-situ testing, and laboratory testing. He is also responsible for the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and for providing construction phase services. He analyzes and develops models of subsurface conditions, and provides geotechnical engineering recommendations for landfills, buildings, retaining walls, deep and shallow foundations, roadways, excavation support, slope stability, marine and coastal structures, earth dams, geosynthetics and environmental applications. Jay is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and has been with Century since 1991. |
