Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Jim was a managing consultant and delivery project executive for IBM Business Consulting Services (formerly PwC Consulting). He also held the following positions earlier in his career: principal consultant for Coopers & Lybrand Higher Education Consulting associate director of research administration for Case Western Reserve University and research analyst at the Shriners Burns Institute (Harvard Medical School) Boston MA and the MetroHealth Medical Center Cleveland OH (Case School of Medicine).
Jim�s accomplishments include:
Leveraged higher education operations and technology consulting experience to create a global delivery strategy for IBM�s new Learning Business Transformation Outsourcing offering to the corporate training market. Provided leadership to 90 personnel involved with designing processes standing up operations and transforming technology infrastructure while simultaneously delivering service to the anchor client�s 30 000 employees.
Designed and helped implement a new model for providing over 60 000 soldiers with improved access to higher education www.eArmyU.com one of the largest contracts ever managed by PwC and a key retention strategy for the U.S. Army. Managed participation of 29 higher education partners and optimized tuition economics.
Worked with numerous research universities foundations and medical centers to assess administrative operations and identify or implement recommendations for improving performance focusing on research administration finance and information technology functions. Led efforts to improve services by redesigning selected business processes redefining roles and responsibilities defining requirements for information technology and selecting software when appropriate.
Helped several universities improve governance and administrative processes for prioritizing and allocating resources. This involved implementing strategic planning and budgeting processes.
Assessed e-learning strategy for Canadian National Defence benchmarked them against the U.S. U.K. and Australian militaries and provided them with recommendations for optimizing investments in people and technology.
Administered sponsored programs for Case. This involved representing the University to sponsors including federal state and local governments corporations and foundations. It also involved developing campus research policies managing staff responsible for processing awards totalling $200 million per year and improving service by redesigning processes and implementing information systems.
