James Kumpel, CFA, has covered healthcare services stocks since 1997, when he joined Raymond James & Associates. His primary areas of focus have been healthcare information technology, pharmaceutical informatics, and senior care, although he has written on hospitals, drug stores, and drug distributors as well. Mr. Kumpel has been featured in articles in The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Bloomberg, Bridge, and Kiplinger. In addition, he has appeared on CNNfn, CNBC, and Bloomberg television. In 1998, he and his colleague were the only Wall Street analysts honored by the National Investor Conference for their work on quality of earnings and alternate valuation techniques. In 2001, StarMine rated him second in healthcare services research for earnings accuracy.
