James Skelton joined FocalPoint Partners to assist the firm in building its restructuring practice. During the course of his 25-year career, he has advised dozens of private equity firms and entrepreneurial business owners on operational and financial restructuring issues. Previously, Mr. Skelton served as the Managing Member of JAS Financial Services, LLC, an independent strategic management and financial advisory firm, and was a founding Principal of Crossroads, LLC, a leading restructuring advisory firm. Earlier in his career, he was also an active private equity investor, having led the investment activities for both Heller Investments in Chicago and San Francisco, and for Berkeley International Capital in San Francisco.
Mr. Skelton's recent advisory assignments include Eurodesign Cabinets Inc., a portfolio company of Long Point Capital, where Mr. Skelton was brought in to assist in the development of an operational turnaround plan and evaluate corporate finance solutions to 'right size' the company's balance sheet, including the consideration of refinancing opportunities. Prior to joining Eurodesign, he advised Outsourcing Services Group, Inc., a contract manufacturer and packager of health and beauty and household products with nine plants located in the US, Canada and Mexico. He has also previously advised Frederick's of Hollywood, Ocean Pacific Apparel Corp, and numerous other companies in industries ranging from consumer and industrial products manufacturing, to construction, distribution, retail, apparel, technology, agriculture, and business services. Mr. Skelton has also served on the Board of Directors of ten companies, many of which were sponsor-owned.
Mr. Skelton holds a B.S. from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).
