Jan Newsom has extensive experience in health care law with a focus on health care utilization management and quality assurance, peer review, licensing and credentialing and third party administration matters. She also concentrates on HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues, Stark law and fraud and abuse compliance, illegal remuneration and compensation matters. Ms. Newsom represents hospitals, physician groups, long term care facilities, home health agencies and other providers of care and works on managed health care network formation and related integrated delivery system issues, including drafting and negotiation, insurance and health maintenance organization regulatory and licensing representation, formation and contracting for Texas 5.01a health care entities. She also has substantial experience in welfare benefit plan design focusing on managed care implementation and liability concerns, administrative matters and dealings with regulatory agencies such as the Texas Department of Insurance, Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Medical Board, Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, and the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
