Jana V. T. Baldwin is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. She is a member of the Firm�s Energy and Derivatives Markets Practice Group, where her practice focuses on litigation, energy, association and commodities law.
Jana's experience includes representing corporations and individuals in civil litigation, in internal investigations and in enforcement investigations and proceedings brought by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), state insurance commissions and other government agencies. She also counsels financial services clients on regulatory matters affecting their businesses and counsels associations on a wide variety of legal matters, including employment/labor, intellectual property and antitrust. Jana has represented brokerage firms, energy companies, trade associations, insurance companies and financial industry professionals in a variety of litigation, transaction and regulatory matters.
During law school, she was an editor on the Articles Review Board of The Virginia Law Review and won the Lile Moot Court Competition.
Prior to joining the Firm, Jana worked as a legislative aide for U.S. Representative Harold Rogers (R-KY). Jana is a member of the New York, District of Columbia and Virginia bars.
Representative Experience
Represented energy trading companies and individuals in various CFTC investigations, including investigations of whether traders engaged in false price reporting or attempted to manipulate gas price indices
Serves in general counsel role for association; provides counsel to associations regarding antitrust, employment, trademark licensing and protection, insurance, litigation and other matters
Lead counsel representing energy company in multi-million dollar arbitration of a contract dispute
Represented companies, including a major financial services firm, consumer products company and beverage company, in various contract disputes
Pro bono work including representing homeowner in dispute with contractor and staffing the D.C. Superior Court Landlord Tenant Resource Center
