Jane Scheidecker grew up in Montana; was the first of 4 female laborers in an oil refinery with 400 guys; opened a language academy in the Canary Islands; and has an international MBA, and a couple of degrees in romance languages, which isn't as romantic as it sounds. She learned humility teaching English, French and Spanish to high school students who could make more money poaching salmon in a week than she could in a month of teaching. She spent years working in the US and internationally in business and economic development. Her first fundraising experience was coming up with money for three degrees with no loans and no money from the folks. In the 80s she developed the fundraising program for the UO College of Arts and Sciences. She became director of development at the Oregon Bach Festival in 2003 and is delighted to lead the Festival's endowment fundraising initiative. |
