Janel Haugarth was named executive vice president, and president and chief operating officer of SUPERVALU�s supply chain services in 2006. She is responsible for all aspects of the company�s logistics and supply chain operations and for planning, implementing and guiding its growth. The Supply Chain Services organization at SUPERVALU employs more than 15,000 associates, and includes 36 distribution centers nationwide and a professional services group that encompasses a variety of value-added services to retail including training, succession planning, real estate, design services, retail accounting, retail technology, risk planning, and customer service.
Haugarth has grown professionally with SUPERVALU during her 30-year tenure with the organization. Her primary leadership roles began in 1985, when she was named controller for the Bismarck division. In January 2000, she joined the company�s Northern region as executive vice president. She became the company�s first female region president that fall.
Haugarth serves on the board of directors for the Minnesota Grocers Association, the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Wholesaler Advisory Board and the board of directors for the IGA-USA. She is also a member of the Network of Executive Women (NEW), and sits on the Minnesota Women�s Economic Round Table. Haugarth has also served on the boards of Tidyman�s LLC and Banta Corporation.
Haugarth earned her bachelor�s degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. She double-majored in business administration and accounting, and was later honored as Outstanding Alumni by the University. Haugarth has also passed the CPA exam and completed the Advanced Executive Development Program at Northwestern�s Kellogg School of Management. |
