Janice has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in both the provider and payer arenas. Her primary expertise is management with a strong emphasis in finance.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Janice was a Principal with Wellspring Partners now a Huron Consulting Group Practice. Previously Janice was with Ernst & Young. She has served for two Catholic organizations PeaceHealth and Providence Heath System. During her tenure with the health systems she held senior line positions in finance as a Chief Financial Officer. Janice also served in positions within administration as Chief Executive Officer for both hospitals and provider-owned HMOs.
Janice has served as CFO for multi-hospital divisions in both for-profit and not-for-profit hospital corporations and health systems. In addition she has held several positions within the HMO industry including CFO operations vice president and CEO of multi-state health plans. Her consulting engagements have focused on strategic planning auditing operations improvement computer system conversions and marketing studies in multiple regions of the United States.
Representative examples of Janice's engagement experience include:
Served as Chief Executive Officer of a five-hospital system in the Southwest. This project included reengineering the revenue cycle implementation of a labor productivity management system and a non-labor cost reduction initiative. Results included reducing AR days from 65 to 42 one-time cash acceleration of $14M a $10M reduction in labor costs and a $15M reduction in non-labor costs.
Served as Interim Chief Financial Officer for a large inner-city teaching hospital in the Midwest. This project included redesigning and reengineering the revenue cycle implementation of a labor productivity management system and implementation of a new patient care delivery model. Results included an increase of $4.7M in revenue improved labor costs of $20M and a reduction in non-salary cost of $4.6M.
Served as Chief Implementation Officer for a community hospital in the Northwest. The project included a revenue enhancement program a reorganization of the care management program and a labor productivity initiative. The hospital improved its operating position from a 5% loss to a 6% operating profit. The project resulted in a cost savings of more than $4M a year and an increase in net revenue of $5M a year within less than a year.
