Ms. Adams is an associate in the Employment Group. Her practice focuses on defending both public and private employers in all aspects of employment related matters, including litigation and counseling of clients on a wide range of issues. Ms. Adams has successfully represented clients in numerous employment cases including discrimination, wrongful discharge, FMLA, ADA, harassment and retaliation. She has also successfully litigated matters involving non-competition agreements, tortious interference with business relationships, unfair competition, and defamation.
Her experience includes state and federal court litigation in Michigan and Colorado, as well as representation of clients before the EEOC and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.
Before joining Dykema, Ms. Adams served as a Trial Attorney for the State of Colorado Office of the Public Defender, where she successfully tried numerous cases to jury verdict.
Experience
Obtained a unanimous jury verdict in a two-week trial involving an age discrimination claim.
Obtained a unanimous jury verdict in a one-week trial involving claims of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation.
Tried numerous criminal cases, including a capital case, while serving as a Trial Attorney for the State of Colorado Office of the Public Defender.
Successfully represented clients in numerous employment-related cases on summary judgment.
Obtained preliminary injunctions against former employees prohibiting contacts with customers due to the former employees' improper use of trade secret information and breach of contract.
Argued numerous cases in the Michigan Court of Appeals resulting in published opinions.
