He has significant experience in valuing intangible assets and intellectual property along with business interests such as equities preferred stock and options and other derivatives.

Prior to joining Huron Jay was a senior associate in PricewaterhouseCooper's (now Duff & Phelp's) Corporate Value Consulting practice. Previously Jay was a manager in Corporate Finance at American United Life Insurance Company.
Representative examples of Jay's valuation consulting engagements experience include:
Managed a Purchase Price Allocation under the provisions of SFAS 141 Business Combinations for a $4 B acquisition in the medical devices industry. The analysis included intellectual property such as trade names and trademarks core and product technology and in-process research and development. Other assets valued included the customer relationships corporate non-compete agreements and the assembled workforce.
Directed the Fresh Start Accounting under the provisions of SOP 90-7 Financial Reporting by Entities in Reorganization Under the Bankruptcy Code SFAS 141 and SFAS 157 Fair Value Measurements for a legacy air line. Assets valued included airline industry intangibles such as international route authorities slots and alliance (codeshare) contracts along with trade names and trademarks joint ventures and customer relationships. Liabilities valued included the air traffic liability (deferred revenue) the frequent flier liability capital leases and aircraft debt.
Managed the valuation of reporting units and intangible assets related to goodwill impairment tests under the provisions of SFAS 142 Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets for a publicly traded information technology and data services company.
Managed valuations of the debtor entity under numerous scenarios to maximize the recovery for the unsecured creditors of a Tier I automotive parts supplier.
Performed a valuation of preferred and common equity on a fully-diluted basis of a development-stage medical device company for "cheap stock" compensation purposes under the provisions of Section 409a of the Internal Revenue Code.
Performed a financing analysis for the creditors of a $300 M chain of retail stores.
Managed a valuation of a business unit's customer relationships for a litigation matter for one of the twenty-largest European banks.
