Jay Swanson is Of Counsel in the Trusts & Estates Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.
Mr. Swanson's practice is primarily concerned with tax-exempt organizations and charitable gift planning. From 1985 to 1987, he was Manager of Planned Giving and Special Assistant to the Vice President for Public Affairs and Development at The New York Public Library. He has co-authored several articles on charitable giving and fundraising.
Mr. Swanson is a former member of the national Board of Directors of Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund. He co-chairs the Advisory Committee of the Studio in a School Association, which provides art instruction in New York City public schools.
Mr. Swanson graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Amherst College in 1973. He received an M.A. in comparative literature from Harvard University and a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1978. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a former member of its Committee on Nonprofit Organizations. |
