Jay Tome joined Optical Alchemy in June 2006 as Vice President of Operations with approximately 25 years in optics engineering, manufacturing and management. The early portion of Jay's career was in aerospace optics, primarily in the development and test of measurement equipment and manufacturing. Jay developed infrared interferometry equipment, including the world's then only 10.6 vacuum interferometer capable of testing IR systems in vacuum. He was also responsible for design and development of several other interferometer types including visible, UV and mid-IR as well as scatterometers. He also supported test and production of optical collimators and telescope systems.Jay's recent career has been spent in commercial plastic optics where he has been responsible for the development of early stage companies and technology. He was a key founding member of Donnelly Optics which grew into a plastic optics house of 130 people participating primarily in video conferencing systems and subsequently cell phone camera module lenses. During this period he held numerous management positions, including engineering managmement program management, quality management and quality management and was responsible for developing these departments from the ground up. He also founded a new business group dedicated to complete electro-optic sensor modules for consumer applications (the Logitech Anoto Pen).Jay's most recent experience was primarily as a world- wide trouble shooter for Flextronics and managed the production of plastic optical systems for cell phone camera module applications |
