Captain Jean-Pierre Dagon, a B717-200 line qualified pilot, joined AirTran Airways as Director Corporate Safety in June 2000.
He oversees safety, insuring that it is brought to the forefront of corporate decisions. He also oversees several voluntary safety programs, including the Flight Operational Quality Assurance Program (FOQA) and Aviation Safety Action Programs for Pilots, Dispatchers and Maintenance Technicians. These programs form a voluntary safety reporting process which involves AirTran Airways, FAA and a labor representative, reviewing events and making safety recommendations.
In addition, AirTran Airways� Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), Environmental Compliance, Passenger Safety report to the Director Corporate Safety.
A native of Switzerland, Capt. Dagon brings 20 years of experience, starting abroad as head of pilot training to the predecessor of Swiss (Crossair), Director of Standards Check-Airmen, Training Center Evaluator for Flight Safety of Texas, and Manager, Flight Ops Training at Mesaba. In 1998, he joined Northwest Airlines, in Eagan, Mn, as Manager Flight Ops Quality Assurance where his primary areas of responsibility were code share audits, Internal Evaluation, and the Air Carrier certificate compliance process (acting Manager Flight Regulations). |
