Born in 1952, Jean Desazars de Montgailhard is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration and the Institut de Sciences Politiques in Paris (France). He also holds a Masters in Economics. He joined Lafarge in 1989.
He started his career at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was specialized in multilateral negotiations, strategic questions and arms control. He served as a diplomat in Madrid (Spain), Stockholm (Sweden) and Washington D.C. (USA), as well as at the central administration.
He joined Lafarge in 1989 as Director of Strategic Planning and Development, a position which he occupied first in Paris (France), then in Spain, where he became Director of Sales and Marketing in 1992.
Since 1996, Jean Desazars de Montgailhard has played a major role in the Group's development in Asia, and also in Africa.
In 2006, Bruno Lafont became CEO of Lafarge and created the position of Executive Vice-President, Strategy & Development, reporting directly to him. Jean Desazars de Montgailhard was appointed to this position, the scope of which was subsequently enlarged to include public affairs and sustainable development.
In particular, Jean Desazars is responsible for a permanent review of the Group's strategy, its business portfolio and its key areas of development. He is involved in the Group's main transactions and assesses all planned investments.
Since January 1, 2008, he has been Executive Vice-President, Strategy, Development and Public Affairs. He is a member of the Executive Committee. |
