Jean Mackin currently co-anchors News 9 at 5:00 with Scott Spradling, and you can see her reporting every weeknight on News 9 Tonight. She began her career at WMUR-TV in June of 1998. Jean moved to New Hampshire from West Virginia with her husband, WMUR News 9 Sports Anchor and Reporter, Jamie Staton. Jamie is a New Hampshire native, so they feel right at home. Jean was born in Georgia and raised in Maryland, right outside Washington, D.C. She graduated from Ithaca College in New York State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism. Jean's first exposure to television news was working behind the camera at a 1990 murder trial. She went on to report and anchor at a FOX station in Martinsburg, W.V., from 1991-1993. From 1993 to 1998, Jean reported for a CBS station in Charleston, W.V. Now, Jean is proud to call New Hampshire home. She had her first exposure to the First in the Nation Primary in February 2000. And she believes New Hampshire has the greatest state motto in all the land. |
