Jeffrey A. Smith is the Partner in charge of the environmental practice group at Cravath. Jeff's practice encompasses environmental matters relating to financings, underwritings and mergers and acquisitions, nationally and internationally in all industries, including the financial sector. Jeff also provides day-to-day counseling on environmental regulatory and compliance issues and advice on environmental litigation, including mass toxic torts and asbestos defense and related insurance issues. Jeff currently serves as Chairman of the ABA's Special Committee on Environmental Disclosure. He frequently speaks and writes on environmental disclosure and corporate governance issues.
Jeff was born in New York, New York. He received an A.B., cum laude, from Harvard University in 1974, and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1981.
