Jeff has more than 18 years of experience in public accounting.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Jeff was a Partner in the National Professional Standards Group at Grant Thornton LLP. Prior to joining Grant Thornton Jeff was a Partner in Arthur Andersen's Professional Standards Group. In both positions Jeff was responsible for providing technical accounting guidance to audit engagement teams and assistance and alternatives to clients in relation to structuring transactions so that the outcomes met client business needs and accounting objectives while remaining in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Jeff's areas of specialization include stock-based compensation arrangements leasing transactions consolidation of special-purpose entities/variable interest entities asset securitizations real estate sale transactions debt restructurings and modifications derivative and hedging transactions product financing arrangements and lending transactions.
Jeff represented Grant Thornton and Arthur Andersen in resolving accounting issues with the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Jeff also represented both firms as a member of various working groups assisting the Emerging Issues Task Force of the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
Representative examples of Jeff's engagement experience include:
Assisting counsel in preparing the successful defense of two audit partners alleged by the SEC Enforcement Division as having contributed to a registrant filing misleading financial statements.
Participating in an engagement resulting in the restatement of financial statements for a public company relating to the improper application of purchase accounting.
