Jeff devotes a significant portion of his practice to patent portfolio development and management for his clients, working closely with his clients to obtain appropriate intellectual property protection based on their technologies and business needs. Jeff also has experience as an engineer, inventor, and in-house counsel, which gives him an insider perspective that enables him to more effectively interface with and represent his clients. Experience Jeff represents clients of all sizes, from independent inventors and small start-ups to large multinational corporations. By working directly with his clients and understanding his client's needs, Jeff helps his clients to identify areas that need protection, locate and analyze prior art and competing technologies, assist with product planning, design around third-party patents, develop patent filing strategies, and tailor patent filings to meet strategic goals. Jeff has extensive patent experience in a wide range of technology areas, including electrical systems, computer hardware and software, communications and networking, data storage and handling, encryption and security, micro-electromechanical systems, financial and business methods, and mechanical devices. Jeff has substantial experience preparing formal invalidity and non-infringement opinions to aid clients with strategic planning. Prior to joining Bromberg & Sunstein, Jeff worked for Codex Corporation and Motorola, Inc., where, as an engineer, he worked with numerous data communication and networking technologies, and, as intellectual property counsel, handled patent, trademark, and related matters in the context of product development activities. |
