Dr. Johnson practices Orthopedic Foot and Ankle / Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgery at the Sports and Orthopedic Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. As Chief of Foot and Ankle Service, and Associate Professor, in the Washington University School of Medicine�s Department of Orthopedics he maintains both clinical and research activities. Dr. Johnson obtained his M.D. degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. As an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, he served an internship at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in San Francisco. He then practiced Family Medicine in Sandstone, MN and served an orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in his hometown of Rochester, MN. Following residency, he was a fellow in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Texas, Houston. He entered private practice in Milwaukee before joining the full-time faculty in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. In 1989 he was appointed director of the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program which graduates four fellows per year. Dr Johnson joined the Washington University faculty in 1997, where his clinical and research interests include the evaluation and treatment of all types of adult and adolescent foot and ankle disorder, especially those resulting from trauma, arthritis, neuromuscular disease, congenital deformity, flatfoot deformities, rheumatoid arthritis, hallux valgus, ankle arthroscopy, and foot complications of diabetes with a special interest in extra corporeal shockwave treatment (ESWT) for the treatment of plantar fasciitis. |
