Ms. Altabef is a partner dealing almost exclusively with labor and employment law. She represents clients in labor and employment litigation and advises clients in a broad range of employment matters, including compliance with federal and state laws. She is also experienced in negotiating contracts and resolving disputes arising from the employment relationship. Ms. Altabef represents employers in state and federal courts, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Texas Commission on Human Rights, Department of Labor, Texas Workforce Commission, and other agencies. Ms. Altabef has particular experience in matters involving all forms of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour issues, and noncompetition/confidentiality matters. Ms. Altabef's nonlitigation practice includes advising and counseling employer clients about legal compliance and risk management both in specific employment situations and as part of an employer's overall policies and procedures. Ms. Altabef assists clients with employee discipline and discharge, reductions in force, management of leaves of absence, hiring and promotion decisions and practices, employee evaluations, performance plans, drug testing, employee privacy issues, worker's compensation, reasonable accommodations for disabilities, plant closings, workplace violence and protection of confidential information. Ms. Altabef is also frequently retained to conduct investigations of allegations of sexual harassment and similar matters. Ms. Altabef has been recognized by Texas Monthly magazine as a "Super Lawyer" in labor and employment each year since that award began in 2003. In 2007, Ms. Altabef was named by D Magazine as one of the "Best Lawyers in Dallas" in labor and employment law.
