Jerry has been a member of Pierce Atwood since 1961. His technical and professional background spans the full range of corporate, commercial, reorganizations, municipal, estate planning and administration disciplines. His legal practice now includes all aspects of counseling in the corporate and business areas and trust and estate administration. He is corporate counsel to a number of established businesses of small to medium size. Jerry is experienced in all kinds of negotiation, structuring, and preparation of complex business arrangements, counseling senior executives and directors of businesses and nonprofit corporations and administration of estates and trusts. Jerry has one of the broadest practice backgrounds in the firm. He participated as debtor�s counsel in the first Chapter XI (Bankruptcy Act) cases in Maine and many subsequent debtor relief cases. He has represented clients in all kinds of corporate, commercial, and business matters over 42 years, including the first project financing in Maine and the first nuclear project in Northern New England. He has been involved with innovative corporate waterfront and other unusual nonprofit organizations, and is increasingly active in trust and estate administration. On account of his more than 40-year representation of the unique Squirrel Island summer colony, he has gained a reputation with respect to island legal problems, and has advised a number of clients with respect to differing special problems faced by Maine islands. Prior to joining the firm, Jerry served for two years as law clerk to the late Honorable Edward T. Gignoux, United States District Judge for the District of Maine. |
