Prior to joining Parker Poe, Jeremy Jessen worked as Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the General Counsel (HHS-OGC). While employed with HHS-OGC, Mr. Jessen provided legal opinions, advice and representation to Medicare/Medicaid in the administration of their programs including fraud and abuse matters. Mr. Jessen represented the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in administrative hearings to enforce federal long-term care, Medicare reimbursement and termination regulations. Mr. Jessen also had the opportunity to collaborate with the HHS Office of the Inspector General and the Department of Justice on criminal and civil fraud investigations.
At Parker Poe, Mr. Jessen continues to focus his practice on federal regulation of health care entities. As a member of the health care team, Mr. Jessen counsels health care providers on a wide array of matters including fraud and abuse, false claims, Stark, EMTALA, HIPAA and self-referral. |
