Hello and thank you for your interest in the section of CBT Nuggets that is completely dedicated to me: The Jeremy Cioara Bio! :) My journey into the world of technology began in the late 1980s when I stumbled on a Timex Sinclair computer. Actually, it was a free gift for attending a presentation on timeshare condominiums. This little all-in-one box connected to a television through an RCA cable, and stored its programs on an audio cassette. I will never forget the screen stating, Please change cassette to Side B when I reached a certain point in the program. Isnt it amazing how far things have come!?! Anyhow, after my Timex Sinclair no longer entertained me, I purchased a Commodore Amiga 1000 computer which actually used software and technology that was far ahead of its time (these computers were used to make Disney movies until recently). I used this computer for the next five years and was heavily involved in video editing and maintaining my own Bulletin Board System (BBS) called Ami-Exchange. What a hobby! This is what truly lit my passion for technology. My professional career began at a company called MicroAge. In the two years that I spent with this company, I worked in at least six different departments ranging from help desk support to network supervisor. I built computers, configured networks, and took support calls. The most valuable lesson learned at this company was just how much I did not know! I became a sponge; sucking up as much information as I could. One day, when I came into work, my boss asked me, Arent you supposed to be in class? I was never one for checking messages, so I said, Sure! Where do I go? Needless to say (long story short), I ended up sitting in on my first Microsoft certification class. I was mesmerized! It was the first time I had ever heard about an Em-Cee-Ess-E (believe it or not, I did not know that this was an acronym MCSE). It was also the first time I saw someone TEACHING a certification class. I thought to myself, That would be the coolest job you could EVER have! That thought still rings true today. Teaching IS the coolest job you could ever have! To sum up the rest of my background After MicroAge, I became a certification monkey attaining complete Novell (CNE), Microsoft (MCSE), and Cisco (CCIE) certifications. I began to train full-time and consulted with US West (now Qwest) to deploy their DSL network. I have authored for multiple magazines, and published a book for Course Technology called Microsoft ISA Server 2000. After writing a 500+ page book, I decided never to write again. However, it was quite an experience! Overall, I have been very blessed and am honored for the opportunity to train in the personal style of CBT Nuggets! Thanks again for taking the time to read my bio. |
